davinci resolve is available on the aur

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/davinci-resolve

sure, but you have to jump through hoops to make it work. the only distro blackmagic supports is rockyos. they don’t want to build against and support hundreds of distros so they work specifically against rocky. to save developer time.

my point is, since steamos is already supporting their distro and not rolling out bleeding edge, (yes, it’s based on arch, but they freeze it and they test it before they roll out updates) blackmagic would have a vetted foundation to build on and a much larger user base from the jump.

the danish were one of the strongest Chat Control promovers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chat_Control

Dutch and Danish are two different nationalities. To be fair they both begin with a D and end with a H so I understand the confusion.

That’s a very generous understanding.

And neither are in the Western hemisphere.

You mean these specific Danish EU civil servants were the ones pushing chat control? Or are we actually talking about completely different people? Not every European is the same person.

So, completely different country

But also the U.S. based companies are the biggest lobbyist.

Maybe the Danish government but not the Danish people.

In Europe, we dissociate public servants from elected officials. Dutch officials, receiving a lot of money from US-based NGO/foundation, push for chat control and other US interests. Dutch public servants obey official in matters of laws, but can lobby for the tools they use.

i might be mistaken but you are looking at Porsche AG; the actual car company was made into a holding in 2007 and now called Porsche SE, then founded Porsche AG to make the cars.

Porsche AG is part of the Volkswagen Group that is owned by Porsche SE.

either way car manufacture is not a big profit game

why would you do that? (unless for the fun of it)

Just to get an idea of its capabilities.

Imagine installing Claude Code in it with full root access. Just by asking a few things, you can have a semi-broken ESP32 doing stuff.

is there anything else to it than the cassette 3d thing?

Yes, after hitting and/or holding spacebar, something happens, or you change to a new year. Sometimes it's just pictures with some text of whatever was important at that year, sometimes it's animations, sometimes stuff you can interact(?) with. In 1995, there is an old Desktop-PC with Windows 95 booting and starting a modem-connection, and you can type on the keyboard. Pretty pointless, but kinda neat.

Check your ad blockers. I needed to switch off the one blocking the gdpr consent banner

You have to keep the spacebar pressed

So it doesn't work on phones apparently.

There is a "hold to rewind" button on the bottom in mine (ios).

Ah thanks, it was just my ad blocker who blocked it.

True simulation of 1996 browsing

That's all I see too: an ugly rendered cassette thing I can spin.

It would be very fitting if it didn't work on Firefox: a sign of the growing enshittification of the Web.

I use firefox and it works for me

OK. Good to know. Thanks!

What are we supposed to do, and what is supposed to happen?

>everyone has moved on to using shadcn's system for components

shadcn only works in react, tailwind works everywhere

looking at their partner list, which is 5000$ a month, and theres 16 partners, thats minimun 80k$ a month. just an insight.

It would appear that they pay their employees fairly well, as seen in this old job posting [1] (not all levels will make this much of course but it gives you a general idea, almost 300k a year is a lot even for a staff engineer).

$275,000 is almost $23,000 a month. Take that times N amount of employees, and other business overhead, and suddenly $80k a month is literally peanuts.

Do you think they’d survive?

i have no idea, even less in usa, but with 80k a month income you could def pay for a dev team and infra in some countries.

i use it for my jellyfin and it just works, been months like this

seems like malwarebytes uses mullvad for its vpn service.

Yes and they’re very transparent about it.

id say is a fairly niche use case, people tend to disconnect outside when going on vacation not watch netflix from the hotel.

I like to travel, in particular road trips and disconnecting is often part of that. Even then, I'm not much of a nightlife person so will often still watch TV for a couple hours at night before bed.
