Regarding predictions and randomness, it's amazing that when producing music, just injecting some randmness for velocity and timing in a loop (for each note event) completely changes it from being insufferably boring to actually enjoyable, even for extended periods.

The brain apparently can detect when a part is exactly repeated, even if it's long, but is thrown off by micro changes.
